As mentioned in other reviews , on my 2006 Honda Rubicon I had to modify the small front up bar on the OEM rack by simply cutting it off so the new rack fit flat.
Painted the fresh cut with black rustolium paint and installed the new rack. Great improvement to the quad.
I had a clue that I wasn’t going to be perfect when I opened the box & the label that has the company name & is stuck on the rack was off the rack & stuck to my direction sheet. I assembled it fairly easily, after getting my Allen set from the garage, because the one provided did not seat into the bolts & kept slipping out. The bushings in the ends of the rack are contoured to meet up to the side rails, but they are set at an angle that they don’t seat right, even when cranked down tightly. (I did try to twist them to a better angle, but they are in tight & didn’t budge. All assembled & I figure it wasn’t that expensive, so why complain about some sloppy welds connecting the mesh to the bars. It’ll do. I move the rack from the work table to the quad(Suzuki Vinson, which I wanted to put this on the front of) & discover that the rack will fit, but it will render the factory dry box useless because the rack extends back over the box top. I can’t give up the utility of that box. I put the rack on the back of the quad & find that the 2 mesh bottom pieces are separated perfectly to allow the back riser of the factory rack to sit between them. I haven’t bolted the rack on yet, but I will & it will add some utility to the quad. Seems I’m still looking for a good aftermarket from rack extender. I’ll be making sure to check that it won’t block the dry box. Btw, the warning sticker pictured was on the outside, bottom of the box it came in. Any idea how this product will give me cancer?
Update: I went to attach the rack to the factory rack on my quad. I don’t think attaching it through just the mesh is a smart move. The provided hardware was not sized right to allow rack bar to rack bar attachment, so I took a ride to the hardware store. $13 later I have heavier duty U bolts securing the rack onto the quad. Ground the excess threaded ends off & I’m content that it’ll do what I need it to do.
Nice looking rack that just needed a little custom installation to make it work for me.
