About this item
- The Kuru Toga Series From Uni-Ball Mitsubishi Has A Core Rotation Mechanism That Can Automatically Rotate The Pencil Lead As You Write. The Lead Is Twisted Through A Spring-Loaded Clutch, It Works By Twisting Incrementally Every Time You Lift The Pencil Up (I.E. During Printing Words, Etc.). This Allows A Uniform Wearing Of The Pencil Lead So That It Always Remains As A Pointed Tip. So You Can Easily Avoid The Usual Problem Of Using Pencils
- At First The Pencil Has A Sharp Point, But After That When You Continue To Write The Point Is Worn Down, And Your Line Widths Are Smudgy And Thicker. Sometimes The Tip Of The Angled Point Can Scratch Or Catch On The Paper. The Lead Is Easy To Break Due To Some Positions Of The Tip And The Angles Of The Tip
- But Using Kuru Toga Pencil, You Will Not Have To Face The Above Problems. You Are Effectively Using Only 50% Of The Lead Area That You Were Previously Using With Your Old Mechanical Pencil. Thus, A 0.3/0.5 Mm Kuru Toga Will Write Incredibly Thin Lines And Have Less Breakage Than A Standard 0.3/0.5 Mm Mechanical Pencil
- Package Weight : 1.0 Lbs

Product Description
The Kuru Toga Roulette Has A Ring Design On The Grip For An Ergonomic Hold And Balanced Weight. Features The Same Excellent Kuru Toga Lead Rotation System Inside. It'S Going To Take A True Pencil Expert To Understand The Common Pencil'S Dilemma But Hang In There As We Try And Explain. With Standard Mechanical Pencils, As You Write The Pencil Lead Is Worn Down Until It Is A Slanted Surface. Each Time You Write You Will Get A Different Experience Depending On How The Pencil Is Rotated. This Can Cause Multiple Annoyances: 1. As You Start To Write You Might Have A Sharp Point, But As You Continue To Write The Point Is Worn Down And Thus Your Line Widths Are Not Uniform. This Can Also Lead To Smudgy And Thick Lines. 2. If You Pick The Pencil Up And Happen To Start Writing With The Tip Of The Angled Point, It Is Likely To Scratch Or Catch On The Paper. 3. The Different Angles At Which The Pencil Lead Comes In To Contact With The Paper Is A Common Cause Of Lead Breakage. The Kuru Toga, On The Other Hand, Has A Core Rotation Mechanism That Continually Rotates The Pencil Lead As You Write. Not Only Does It Solve The Above Problems, But It Also Gives You An Amazingly Thin Line. You Are Effectively Using Only 50% Of The Lead Area That You Were Previously Using With Your Old Mechanical Pencil. Thus, A 0.3 Mm Kuru Toga Will Write Incredibly Thin Lines And Have Less Breakage Than A Standard 0.3 Mm Mechanical Pencil.

Before I get into the full review I advise you to look at the picture I provided. Here’s the explanation on that. *For those of you that don’t know there are lead hardness grades HB is standard, and is dead center on the hardness scale. 2B is 2 grades of 8 from the softest, makes darker lines.
*I never adjusted my grip for the test
1) HB 0.7 (no autorotate, graphgear 1000)
2) HB 0.5 (no autorotate, graphgear 1000)
3) 2B 0.5 (autorotate from kurutoga)
4) HB 0.5 (autorotate from kurutoga)
Pick your favorite. I know mine
Balance is 9/10. I have a pentel graphgear 1000 which was my favorite until now. I love the weight of the graphgear. This does not have that same weight, but it does have some. Enough to create a great counterbalance, and reduce fatigue if you tend to press hard while writing like I do.
Construction 8/10- Rotring 800 sets the standard for quality construction. The bottom half (from grip down) of this pencil I would give a 10/10, but the upper sheath is plastic, they use that stupid wrap around clip for the clip, and the eraser as will all pencils of this category is garbage. The pencil doesn’t feel like it will never break, but feels like it is likely to last years which is plenty for a $10 pencil and the fact that your almost for sure going to lose it before you break it.
Functionality 9.8/10- the auto rotate works like a dream lending itself to much cleaner writing, darker lines (due to finer point), and consistent lines. I also really love that they have a small hole to show that it is rotating the lead. Despite the whole being very small, I think it would achieve the same effect being a little smaller and less noticiable on your finger. The only reason it’s not 10/10 is because you do feel the writing shaft depress, and ever, ever so slightly wiggle. You’ll feel it when you initially pick up the pencil, but it isn’t noticiable after even a few minutes of writing. It causes no inconsistencies or difficulty with writing. Lead feeds well, and the pencil feels good in your hand. I do appreciate that the grip is wider than your standard bic mechanical pencil. I love my rotring, but this wins on functionality because the grip is a bit larger leading to less hand fatigue or cramping. The knurling on the grip is also quite fine which I like. It’s still plenty grippy, but doesn’t dig in at all like the graphgear or rotring can, again, particularly if you grip on the stronger side.
Writing quality 11/10- literally flawless. I mentioned a few things that you could factor into writing quality, but as a whole, I don’t think it gets better than this.

Right from the first use, the Kurutoga Roulette Model impressed me with its unique and ingenious mechanism. The self-sharpening feature is an absolute game-changer. The pencil's rotation as I write ensures a consistently sharp point, leading to clean and precise lines without the need for constant manual sharpening. This innovation is both efficient and satisfying.
The 0.5 mm lead size is perfect for those who seek precision and fine detailing. Whether I'm jotting down notes, sketching intricate designs, or working on technical drawings, the Kurutoga Roulette consistently delivers impeccable results. The lead advances smoothly, and the lines remain consistent in thickness throughout.
The silver design exudes a sense of elegance and sophistication. The pencil feels comfortable in the hand, with a weight that strikes a perfect balance between sturdy construction and effortless writing. The build quality is outstanding, reflecting uni's commitment to excellence.
The mechanical mechanism of the Kurutoga Roulette Model is reliable and durable. I've experienced minimal instances of lead breakage, thanks to its thoughtful engineering. The retractable tip also adds to its portability and convenience.
In conclusion, the uni Mechanical Pencil Kurutoga Roulette Model in Silver is a five-star writing instrument that has won my heart with its precision, innovation, and elegant design. If you're seeking a mechanical pencil that consistently delivers sharp lines and a satisfying writing experience, this pencil is a must-have addition to your collection. It's an investment that speaks to both quality and craftsmanship, and it's easily deserving of its perfect rating.
