Three Detection ModesThe exclusive Detection Mode feature allows you to control when the Yard Enforcer is activated. You can use them only during daylight hours, or, for protection 24/7, select the ‘always on’ mode. Only want to protect the yard at night so it doesn’t spray human visitors during the day? The ‘night only' mode will do just that. |
Expandable Spray ZoneThe Yard Enforcer has the ability to increase the water enforcement area by connecting additional impact sprinklers (sold separately), via the dual flow-through ports controlled by the valve. Another option is to increase the protected zone with additional Enforcers that can be linked together through the flow-through outlet. |
Superior CoverageThe powerful infrared sensor can detect intruders from up to 40 feet away (up to 20 feet for small animals) and has a wide viewing angle of 120 degrees, that’s 1600 square feet of protective coverage from a single unit. |

Adjustable Line of SightPosition the sensor and sprinkler in the direction of where the pest enters the yard to chase them away before they reach the plants and landscaping you are protecting. The sensor unit can be angled down for smaller animals, or angled up for larger animals and birds. |
Doubles as a SprinklerThe Yard Enforcer has a 30-minute watering cycle that enables it to function as a timed sprinkler. Protect the yard without the hassle of having to switch out the Enforcers for a sprinkler every time the lawn or garden needs watering. |

So I went back to HD... only to find that the Yard Enforcer was no longer sold there and they were sold out online for the product that replaced it, which was now solar-powered... ie. unreliable unless it gets enough sun... no thank you. Looking on Amazon, besides the Yard Enforcer, which was selling at a shocking 2-3x the price I’d expected from previously purchasing it, everything else had less features, worse reliability (according to reviews) and were mostly over-priced as well. I think the cheapest was selling at $50... and it wasn’t worth a quarter that... again, according to reviews. Eventually, the Yard Enforcer came back into stock on “Prime,” dropping 40-something percent, and I decided to buy it again and end/win my feud with Max.
The Yard Enforcer arrived in a plain brown, nondescript cardboard box from, according to a small white label on the box, Orbit’s “Customer Care” department. Doesn’t that just scream refurb??? It also didn’t have that “mystery part” that a few other reviewers had difficulty figuring out... the arm that allows mounting the sensor/control box to the battery compartment, nearer to the ground for detecting smaller animals. I’d used that mount point the first time around and likely would’ve tried it there again... mounting it at the top increases the range significantly, which is not a plus when you’re already at minimum on the “range” control and it’s still detecting me far outside of the range I need. Other than the weird box and the missing part, it appears to be in “new” condition... so, as long as it lasts for at least as long as the first one and keeps Max away from digging next to the house, I’ll chalk up the win. Suck it, Max!
The features that put the Yard Enforcer above the competition are the day vs. night vs. always modes; the extra hose connections at the top, which allow me to connect a second hose and sprayer that fires from a different direction/angle... no dead zones that Max can escape deterrence; and the “intellisense” feature that dials back detections when the weather would otherwise have it going off nonstop.
It does work well. The rabbits have now figured out that they will be sprayed with water if they stay in the part of my yard that this is covering. I had no difficulty setting it up but did, as others have said, use trial and error to adjust the settings. I have found that the water pressure tends to move the device around when the water pressure shoots a stream at the rabbits. I don't think that the motion sensing is truly at 40 feet but it is good enough for me.
I live in a community with no fencing between homes. I have forewarned my neighbors of the device so that they don't set off the spray on themselves. They have all be amused by it but are impressed with how well it works.
I have used the lower setting for the motion detection sensor since I want it to catch the rabbits as they over my lawn. There is a higher setting for larger critters, such as deers.
This doesn't hurt the rabbits, just moves them along and stops the burrowing and ruining of my lawn. That is my goal.
UPDATE: I have noticed when my sensor is pointed toward the street in front of my house that whenever a large vehicle, particularly one pulling a trailer, crosses in front of my house, that the sensor is set off. I have tried to position the sensor so that it doesn't have such a direct line of sight to the street but the motion of the traffic still sets it off, if it is within the 120 degrees of the sensors pick up. Nevertheless I am still very satisfied with this product and still highly recommend it as safe way to rid pests from you yard, even traffic on the street!!!!
Top reviews from other countries
This was an extremely expensive investment so I had high expectations. At its core it's a very simple product: a sprinkler with a built in motion sensor (technically heat sensor so it won't spray at swaying trees or falling leaves). You can adjust the sensor range, as well the the spray duration (up to 10s), range (long jet or wide spray), and coverage (up to 360°, but why?)
The sensor's coverage is roughly 180°, and at the longest range, it'll trigger from about 20-25 feet away and pelt you with water fast enough that you won't get away unless you knew it was coming. There are 3 modes: day, night, and always.
I find the night mode, which is what we use for the racooon guard duty, is overly sensitive so it will go off even on a cloudy day or in the shade in late afternoon. This is a bit of a problem since it makes the yard a bit of a landmine zone when you just want to take a stroll in it.
It does otherwise an admirable job and most importantly kept the racoons away since it was installed. It also has a 30 minute watering mode which is helpful if you want to use it like a regular sprinkler. We actually bought a second one just to get full coverage of our yard since the racoons initially just moved to dig up the other side of the yard outside the initial one's range.
Again, it's very expensive. But it does its job well, if maybe a bit too eager to spray.
La calidad del material es bueno pero la detección es mala.
Anyway, since we have our “guardian” no poo found, my flower beds are without holes and mulch is in place.
P.s. If someone created something like this for slugs and snails my garden would be garden of Eden.
