Product Description

In 1875, a young Czech immigrant named Joseph Bulova set up shop in New York City, and a legendary American watch brand was born. Bulova was trained as a jeweler, and his expertise carried over into his watchmaking career, which began around 1911 with boudoir clocks and pocket watches, and soon evolved to include what was then one of the latest and most fashionable technological innovations: the wristwatch.

Bulova introduced its first line of wristwatches in 1919. The company grew and prospered, and soon early radio and television ads were declaring, "America runs on Bulova time." In the 1950s, continuing its legacy of innovation, Bulova introduced Accutron, the first electronic watch, and the first breakthrough in timekeeping technology in over 300 years. The Accutron timing mechanism was later adapted for use by NASA computers and a Bulova timer was even placed on the moon to control transmissions of data. Bulova timepieces have kept official time aboard Air Force One and have also served as official timepieces for U.S. Olympic teams.

Today, Bulova maintains its tradition of excellence in technology and design, offering a diverse collection of beautiful precision timepieces for every occasion.

From the Precisionist ? Collection. Featuring Bulova's proprietary Precisionist quartz accuracy, this advanced chronograph offers 1/1,000-second precision over a twelve-hour time frame, with global accuracy to within ten seconds a year. In stainless steel with black ion-plated accents, domed crystal, rotating ratchet bezel, black sunray dial, chronograph measurement of hours, minutes, seconds, 1/10-seconds, 1/100-seconds and 1/1,000-seconds, red continuously sweeping second hand, luminous hour and minute hands, luminous markers, tachymeter, calendar, screw-back case, screw-down crown, double-press fold-over clasp with safety lock, and water resistance to 200 meters.

Absolutely incredible chronograph in every way!
5 Stars
Absolutely incredible chronograph in every way!
This is the absolutely best chronograph that exists. I know them all well! Simplify your search and longing for more with this Bulova Precisionist! It's everything you're looking for in a mechanical and quartz watch that you can ask for. First, the High Frequency Quartz movement, 262kHz, beats 8 times faster than a traditional quartz movement, resulting in accuracy of +/- 10 seconds per year (not month) as well as a perfectly smooth sweeping seconds hand, which is NOT attainable in any mechanical watch! The mechanical watch would have to beat 16 times/second or 57,600 times/hour! The highest beat automatic movement is 36,000 beats/hour. Under a 1 second time lapse exposure to the seconds hand, there is NO discernable tick of the seconds hand in the exposure image. This is the holy grail of mechanical watch conneisuers and it is only attainable in the HFQ movement of the Bulova Precisionist! Although, the Seiko Spring Drive movement also beats 16 times/second, but to attain any Seiko Spring Drive movement time piece, you must invest at least $3,000 to purchase one, when you can have equal performance in a $240 Bulova!!! Also, this chronograph can measure to 1/1000th of a second. Unbelievable! (No Seiko Spring Drive chronograph has this feature!) This chronograph is simply the most advanced and one-of-a-kind chronograph that exists. The best bang for the buck you could ever imagine in the horological world! It's not only mind blowing features either! You get top-notch fit and finish and engineering of the case. It's essentially flawless and completely unique! There is no mimicking of any brand or model of watch. This chronograph holds it's own and has it's own technical and aesthetic marvels. Additionally, you get 200m of water resistance suitable for air diving, no saturation diving (helium decompression/professional diving). In reference to diving, it also makes an excellent dive watch in function and design. The lume is great and easily readable in the dark if deep underwater or low light situations along with a lume pip at "zero" minutes on the bezel. The bezel has extremely high quality, firm, little play, confident clicks, 60 clicks per complete rotation. The chronograph also is engineered with the absolutely necessary function of a screw-down crown to ensure a waterproof case during air diving. (You MUST screw down the crown tightly before swimming/diving/water exposure, PERIOD!!!) This watch literally has everything going for it! One knit pick: I have a sub-7" wrist. I took every link out and have the micro adjustment to the last hole. This is as small as it can get, and it's still the slightest bit "large", meaning: if I had one more micro adjustment hole (there's only 3 on this bracelet clasp unfortunately) the watch would fit perfectly. It's just good enough to be wearable, though, so no deal breaker. But if you have a smaller wrist than me, you're either going to have to wear your watch loose or get an aftermarket strap or bracelet. Unfortunately, the bracelet end links of an aftermarket bracelet won't fit perfectly flush with the case like the OEM bracelet does, only "complaint". Glad I could contribute to this review and hope it influences many positively and honestly to make the best decision! Cheers.Photo update: On a beautiful Crown & Buckle Dark Chocolate 24mm American Made with red stitching leather one-piece NATO strap.

This watch is big, bold and beautiful. It's heavy and the stainless steel bracelet is thick and easily adjusted with simple watch tools. It doesn't have any 1/2 links which would have been nice. Online pictures don't do it justice. The Precisionist movement is unmatched in accuracy to within +\- 10 seconds per year. The chronograph function is precise to 1/1000 of a second, you won't find that accuracy in any other movement. The crown is screw down and is water resistant to 200 meters.
The second hand is mesmerizing with its red color and continuously smooth sweep, other quartz watches only tick once per second. This was a very nice addition to my collection.
