Product Description
Product Description
The iFetch Too automatic ball launcher is a big dog’s fetching dream! Once your dog places the standard sized tennis ball into the top of the iFetch Too, this interactive dog toy throws it 10, 25 or 40 feet. (Or set it to “random” to keep your pet guessing!) Features an internal rechargeable battery and distance setting changes with a touch of a button.
From the Manufacturer
Fetch-a-holics rejoice!
The iFetch Too is perfect for big dogs who love their tennis balls! Change the launch distance to 10, 25 and 40 feet with the touch of a button. It’s that easy! There’s also a random distance setting for more fun. The iFetch Too launches immediately, to minimize the chances of the ball hitting your dog at close range; but we recommend training your dog to drop the ball in from behind, as good practice. Comes with a built-in, rechargeable battery that can last and last (we've counted over 300 launches!). Bring it to the park and watch the dogs come running. Happy fetching!
Award-winning ball launcher! The iFetch Too won “First Place” in the New Product Showcase dog category at SuperZoo, the pet industry’s largest trade show, and “Second Place” at the Global Pet Expo’s New Product Showcase. The best praise for us, though, is seeing online videos of dogs enjoying the iFetch Too! We care about safety too. Under the power/distance setting button, there is a button you can slide to lock the distance to 10 feet. No matter how many times you press the button to adjust distance, it will stay at 10 feet. This allows easy play indoors and is recommended for early training until your dog learns to wait behind (or beside) the iFetch Too when it launches.
Step 1: DROPTrain your dog to “drop!” the iFetch tennis ball into the top of the iFetch Too. We recommend using another ball (showing another pretty blue ball will make them drop the one they have) or using treats (yum) for motivation.
Step 2: FETCHEncourage your dog to “fetch!” once the ball launches from the iFetch Too. You may need to launch a few balls from the tennis ball machine at first, showing your dog that his new toy actually throws the ball – it doesn’t eat it.
Step 3: REPEATNow, coax your dog to “bring!” the ball back to the iFetch Too for more fetching fun. Again, try using another iFetch ball or treat to get them back behind the launcher again and ready to drop. And don’t forget to shower your dog with praise!
A family company on a mission to create better dog toys.We started the company with a grandfather / grandson tinkering project in the garage, followed by a successful Kickstarter campaign, and now almost four years of experience under our belts. There are a lot of dog toys on the market, but we strive for new and different. All of our products require some level of training to be able to play with the toys independently, which we think creates a wonderful bonding opportunity for owners and their pets. Even if your dog never "gets" the idea of dropping the ball into the top of the toy, you can still play and interact with them through the toy. These shared experiences are special. We like to think our toys are special too.
About the StartupDescribe your product in 3 words.
Healthy, fetching fun.
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
Once we developed the iFetch ball launcher for small dogs, we were flooded with emails from customers wanting a larger version for their big dogs. After another successful Kickstarter campaign, we launched production of the iFetch Too.
What makes your product special?
We think our iFetch Too ball launcher is an engineering work of art. We designed the launcher to only launch one ball at a time on purpose. The mental energy it takes for a dog to understand where and how to drop the ball so that it is automatically thrown for him is pretty amazing. And mental stimulation is so important for a dog's well-being. "Use it or lose it" applies to dogs as well as humans. Our iFetch Too launcher is portable, durable, and features an internal, rechargeable battery. All of these features were important to our customers.
What has been the best part of your startup experience?
The best part of our startup experience is seeing the videos owners post of their pets playing with our iFetch products. Watching dogs get so excited waiting for the ball to launch makes all of the hard work worthwhile. It is truly a family affair at iFetch. Denny, though supposedly “retired”, is the CEO and patriarch of the company. His daughter, Debbie left her medical practice, to help run the company. And Grant, the idea originator, has returned as our Sales VP to “launch” his career with us (pun intended). It's been a wonderful journey.

Directions
Before first use, use the battery charger to fully charge the internal battery. Plug the adapter end into the bottom of the product and then insert the plug into the wall. Fully charging your battery will normally take 8 hours, but it is best to charge it overnight or even for a full 24 hours this first time. Unplug the cord from the bottom of the machine, and place the iFetch Too where you'd like to play. For best performance, make sure your iFetch Too is on a flat, level surface. Press the power button to turn on (button should glow green indicating battery is fully charged). You're ready for play!

The Negative: We stored it for 18 months, and then tried to use it. The battery would not hold a charge. After reading time reading reviews and searching online, I went to the ifetch website (be patient, it is SLOW & eventually found a contact email. By this time, I was tired, frustrated, and very annoyed. I explained to the problem and my frustration with a non-working and seemingly not replaceable battery to the company.
The Joyous Resolution: The company responded in a few days with a very nice email and asked for my address they could send me replacement battery. After a few days they sent a follow-up email apologizing for the delay and letting me know that they hadn't forgotten, but the battery was going to take a couple extra days. It arrived in less than 2 weeks, and only took 1 screwdriver to install. It charged, and it's working perfectly. I am very thankful to their customer service team, especially Grant. It has been off the charger now for 3 days, and every time I or a dog drop a ball in it, it works, so the standby mode is functioning perfectly. I was told that if the battery is left for several months, or 18, it will stop holding a charge. So my suggestion is, if you're not using it for a while, stick it on the charger every couple monthsto keep the battery fresh.
As to the specifics. There are several minor issues that really aren't that big of a deal if the big issues were not present. The included tennis type balls are basically junk and my 1 yr old beagle destroys them in just a couple of hours. If you have a bigger dog or a real chewer, I wouldn't even risk giving them to the dog for fear of choking. The other issue is that any tennis type ball seems to get slobbery (if that's a word..LOL) to the point that the thrower will not throw them. Again, not that big of a deal because we replaced the tennis balls with the medium sized Chuck-It balls (2.5") which throws very well. The outside plastic trim ring on the opening where the ball ejects also was rather flimsy and our beagle scratched it off trying to get the ball out of the launcher when it failed to launch. Didn't really affect the machine so not that big of a deal. The one issue we had that really isn't the fault of the machine was our dog would often put the ball in the opening where the ball comes out causing us to then get the stuck ball out. Some sort of guard would be great to prevent that, but my option was to build a box that the whole machine fit into with two boards on the outside that kept her from putting it in the wrong hole.
The biggest design flaw in my opinion is that the machine works off of a battery that quickly loses charge even when plugged in at all times. I doubt many buyers will ever use theirs outdoors, so why not just make the motor run directly off of 110v AC so the motor throws consistently? With the way these work, the first dozen throws on a fresh charge will throw very strong and far but very quickly the battery weakens and before long, the thrower is throwing the ball 6-8 ft max even on the highest setting. Our dog loved ours so much she would play non stop for hours if we didn't take it away from her, but most times we didn't have to because it would stop throwing very far at all anyway, so we turned it off to let it recharge.
The 2nd serious issue is with the launcher rollers that have these elevated ribs. Those seemed to wear down to nothing in no time and that was before we switched to the chuck it type ball. With those worn down, it further reduced how far it could throw and caused a lo of very short throws.
Finally, the BIG issue. Despite the shortcomings we figured it was still an OK purchase until it totally and completely stopped working less than 2 months after purchasing it. We're past the Amazon return time frame so now we are going to be at the mercy of iFetch directly. Hopefully they will treat us fairly, I will update this review with what happens. In short, had I known then what I know now about the machine, I would not purchase it again.
Even though the first one was a huge failure for my dog (everything was a limitation) and their customer service was horrible, I had to try out the "iFetch too" version with fear but backed up by amazon excellent service, I could take that chance.
My dog is a boston terrier 2 yr old and is very active. His play time involves ball for more than 5 hrs a day. So we wanted something like this and since he was already trained on the first generation of the ifetch, he immediately realized that it is a bigger version and started playing on it from day 1 of the machines arrival. He has been playing with it indoors and outdoors for almost every day 2 hrs total for the past 5 months. I repeat: every day 2 hrs for the past 5 months and the machine has not shown any symptoms of breaking down like the one before. So there is no need to contact customer service as of now. I do charge it every day, clean it once every 2 weeks, especially when he plays outside with it. When playing outside, we tend to monitor him and change tennis balls frequently to avoid the slobber problem, since it slows down the tennis ball. Also, when the tennis ball is more wet, he tends to catch at the opening it self rather than chasing it. We use Penn tennis balls for this and they seem to work well.
He can be considered as a beta tester for this model and he is pushing limits of the machine even when I am writing this review. He does play by himself now and takes rest in between and plays again and goes on doing that. Will definitely be interested to buy more of their products in future and definitely will recommend this version.

Still going strong after having it for 9 months now. Just continuing to clean and change tennis balls when they get too wet. Still recommend and 5 stars

More than a year now and still going super strong. I just opened up the back of the iFetch to clean and found a lot of grass (my dog plays outdoor) and ball fur stuck in there (see pic). Cleaning was easy and it is good to go again.

Finally after 1.8 years of service the iFetch crashed on us. The rubber rolls inside eroded and item is broke now. Ordering one more now.

Dennoch bereitet uns der I fetch Too ser viel Spass .
