Product Description

The Earthquake M205 Walk Behind String Mower, powered by a 150cc 4-Cycle Engine is the perfect all-terrain tool for making short work of your trimming and brush clearing tasks. In contrast to push mowers or hand-held trimmers, the Earthquake String Mower is designed to help you go where mowers can’t while eliminating the back strain associated with carrying heavy equipment all around the yard. With our unique never-kill engine configuration, you can disengage the cutting head to remove sticks and branches from your cutting path and then re-engage the cutting head without having to restart your engine. Built-tough features like a one-piece steel deck and heavy-duty nylon line ensure continuous results and make the experience of slicing through weeds and dense foliage quick, easy, and satisfying. In addition to being tough, this unit is also convenient, utilizing large diameter wheels to keep you coasting around your property over uneven terrain and through thick grass and weeds. When the job is complete, you simply wheel the unit back to the garage and fold down the handlebars for easier storage. Backed by a 5-year warranty and US-based customer service, this product is built to perform.

I love it..until it broke

I love it..until it broke
First of all this is the 5th walk-behind string mower I've owned. The others were Cub Cadets and one DR. Cub Cadets are crap now, cheap engines. I own a guest ranch, and we get about 26" of rain here during summer, so it turns into Cambodia. It's all flat land and I keep it mowed. After a LOT of research I took a chance on this Earthquake mower. Our stores here have no mowers at all for sale, so I ordered this online. It arrived fast! And super easy to set up. I like the way the strings tie on, that seems better. I LOVE the throttle, I can release the bar and the mower stops but it keeps running so I can move a rock or get a drink. It's also lightweight, I'm a size 3 lady. And it starts on one pull. I mowed for an hour 4 days in a row, and I just loved it...until the mower head flew off. The skid dome had already worn off and it tore away. I do know how to use these machines, and that skid plate always wears out, but usually after a year! I e-mailed them, I sent photos and they sent me a new skid plate. I've got about 3 hours on the new plate. I hope it lasts longer. Also it's really difficult to remove grass that winds around the shaft, I mean, no way to reach in there, I need to use a thin hook at least 6" long to reach in and hook the grass bit by bit. I like this mower but it seems like all these mowers just fall apart fast these days. I am good with maintenance, I keep it clean. Before this one I did pop for a Billy Goat Outback, $3200.00! I decided to go way up in quality since I have 7 acres to keep nice. I hated it. It weighed 300 lbs, I could not turn it, and the handle levers are made for men's hands, my hands didn't even fit around them. I used it for one hour, then I sold it to a guy who is stronger than I am. If you buy this Earthquake mower make sure you keep the mower head lifted up above the brush, you can't glide it along the ground at all, and even then the plate will still break off eventually. Buy extra skid plates.Update 9-18-22- Also, it came with a spark arrester, not installed. Just kind of tossed in a bag with a screw. It was a you figure it out kind of thing. So, of course that screw fell out. Thankfully I didn't lose the spark arrester. But I've wasted 20 minutes searching through all my hardware for something to put it back on with. And I can't find anything that will work because it isn't threaded. It's just a hole. So really whatever I use will fall out. So much for them being concerned about fires. Another update- I ended up using a fence tie to hold the spark arrester on. That seems to work well. But for $600.00, I would think they would make a proper part for that. I've had this mower a month. After 4 hours the mower head broke off, and the spark arrester is a joke.
