Heat Recommendations

Le Creuset stockpots can be used with all heat sources, including induction. For efficient and safe boiling, always use a burner similar in size to the base of the stockpot.

Size Guide

A good rule of thumb is one quart per serving. If you typically prepare eight servings, a stockpot of eight quarts or more should be sufficient.

General Cleaning & Care

Never place a stockpot in the dishwasher. To clean, simply hand-wash the stockpot with hot, soapy water. Rinse well, and dry thoroughly.

Excellent for Stocks

Excellent for Stocks
I had the time today to finally rid my freezer of shrimp shells, vegetable trimmings and herb stems I had been collecting for the past few months to make a gorgeous stock for seafood paella and cioppino recipes I treasure. Following the Le Creuset directions regarding heat settings on an iron/gas heat cooktop, this stockpot was perfect. The pale interior helped me see the rich color of the stock, versus the nonstick pot I had been using for 15+ years. I added 1T of butter on medium-low heat at the beginning and it quickly browned, so adding the shells and vegetables with 2 cups of water to steam until adding water to cover everything, bringing it up to a slow boil, helped protect the enamel surface. The attached pic shows the [drained] pot after a 2hour simmer. All of the residue cleaned easily with a regular dish brush after the pot cooled and soaked in warm soapy water.*My first order came chipped, so I did not review it. Very happy with the replacement purchase!
